Victorian classic Wilkie Collins, follows Walter Hartright, who gets a job as a drawing teacher for a beautiful young woman and is quickly pulled into far more sinister goings-on. Using multiple narrators and drawing on Collins’ legal background, it’s a story full of suspense, jealousy, and murder. Pursuing questions of identity and insanity along the paths and corridors of English country houses and the madhouse, The Woman in White is the first and most influential of the Victorian genre that combined Gothic horror with psychological realism.
