#1: LeidenGlobal Annual Event: Should Nature be given Rights?

The idea of giving nature legal rights is being discussed worldwide. This year´s Annual LeidenGlobal event invites a range of experts and activists to discuss the paradoxes and challenges of the new kind of human-nature relationship.The conference will take place at Wereldmuseum Leiden on September 30, 2024. #2: Forum 2000 Conference on “For a Democratic World Order”
Forum 2000 Foundation, the EPS-associated partner, pursuing the legacy of Václav Havel with the value of democracy and human rights on the lead, organizes the 28th edition of the conference supporting the foundation and development of civil society in a democratic environment. The conference will take place on October 13-15, 2024, in Prague, and all EPS students are more than welcome.  Furthermore, EPS students based in Prague in October will be given the possibility to actively contribute to the conference if interested. #3: Good Governance in the European Union
The international interdisciplinary conference focused on various aspects of good governance will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Faculty of Law and Administration University of Warsaw. Requirements and effects of the good government such as economic achievements, social cohesion, environment protection and general well-being is going to be discussed. The conference will focus on questions within the European milieu.
SOCIAL AND CULTURAL EVENT SECTION
Rebellion in the system. Musical spaces of freedom 1945 – 89

Accept the invitation to the journey back in time and place and investigate an anti-establishment music from the times of the Polish People´s Republic. Visit the Nowa Huta Museum and listen to the story of music.

#1: Best Thesis Award 2024

The call for the Best Thesis Award has been announced and all second-year students meeting the eligible criteria (see on the EPS website or in the EPS MA thesis handbook) are invited to send the application to the EPS email address: eps@fsv.cuni.czThe deadline is September 20, 2024
#2: Hiring Doctoral Researchers
The Doctoral Training Unit on ´Economic Insecurity: Causes,Consequences and Actions´ (EICCA) at the University at Luxembourg is offering PhD positions. EICCA will train social scientists from various disciplinary backgrounds who are interested in the quantitative analyses of the causes and consequences of economic insecurity for individuals’ lives and society in general. More information about the position can be found on the web pages of the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences of the University of Luxembourg.
#3: Ukrainian Studies Conference
The Nanovic Institute for European Studies at the University at Notre Dame (IN, USA) has opened a call for proposals for its first Ukrainian Studies Conference , that will be held March 6 – 8, 2025, titled ´Revolutions of Hope: Resilience and Recovery in Ukraine´. In case you are interested, please submit your proposal via Nanovic Institute web pages, where you can also find details regarding the events and proposal requirements. The submission deadline is September 30, 2024.

#1: Enrollment and orientation tour in Jinonice campus

Do you feel a bit lost in Prague? Do you not know how to get to classes? Join the orientation tour around the Jinonice campus where all the EPS obligatory classes of the first semester will take place. We meet on September 19, 2024, at 9:00 in Jinonice metro station above the escalators and we will show you the new building of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. After the orientation tour, the enrollment will follow. The enrollment will take place at room C117 from cca 10am
