CONGRATULATIONS

Excellence and Leadership Award

The 2022 EPS Excellence and Leadership Award winners are Nicole Molinari and Kyra Prins. Congratulations!

Best Thesis Award

The 2022 edition of the Best Thesis Award goes to Damian Krämer with his thesis “The Emperor without Clothes? Explaining the Choice for a Flexible Solidarity Mechanism proposed in the Asylum and Migration Management Regulation”. Congratulations!

ACADEMIC EVENT SECTION

EU budget in crisis mode: From impact of pandemic to effects of war

You are welcome to could join the discussion with Petr Mooz, a member of the Directorate-General for Budget (European Commission), about the financial politics of the EU. The event takes place on November 2 at 13:00 in the Hollar building, room n. 212 or you can join the session online via Zoom.

SOCIAL/CULTURE EVENT SECTION

#1: Excursion to Carolinum

Get to know the old buildings of Charles University and join us on the excursion to Carolinum (Ovocný trh 5, Prague 1) on November 7 at 14.45. The guided tour will help you understand the university’s history and Czech lands.

#2: Radio Free Europe

A part of the course JTM084 Current Challenges in Europe will be this semester a visit of Radio Free Europe, which takes place on December 5 at 9:30. The programme includes a guided tour through the building and a discussion with journalists of RFE.

#3: Marketing workshop

Don’t miss an opportunity to meet a marketing expert and ask him any questions related to political marketing on December 7 at 17:00. The workshop will contain a presentation and free discussion with the expert. Registration for the event is required.

#1: Erasmus Mundus Students and Alumni Association!

Erasmus Mundus Students and Alumni Association (EMA) is an initiative of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Education and Culture (DG EAC) to gather students and alumni of Erasmus Mundus programmes. The idea is to foster interactions and community belonging and form a global network.

#2: Call for applications for PhD programme at European University Institute

European University Institute (EUI) opens the call for applications for the fully funded PhD programme in History and Civilisation at the European University Institute (EUI) on November 1, 2022. The Department of History at the EUI offers exceptional opportunities to study the history of Europe in the World from the 15th century to the present, in the inspiring city of Florence, Italy. You may find general information about EUI PhD programme here. Applications are open from November 1, 2022 until January 31, 2023.

#3: 4EU+ Emerging Leaders Workshop

EPS students and junior researchers from Ukraine are invited to apply for 4EU+ Plurality of Memories Emerging Leaders Workshop which will reflect upon the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The objective is to equip the participants with tools and strategies to be more actively involved in fostering civic engagement and promoting democracy. Tempted to apply? See the entire call here. The application deadline is on November 3, 2022.

IMPORTANT DATES

#1: Barcelona Research Seminar

The 2023 edition of the Barcelona Research Seminar takes place on January 19-20, 2023. The BRS programme will start at 1 PM on January 19 and finish at 6 PM on January 20 followed by a social event. Given the growing EPS family, only 2nd-year students will present their MA thesis research on the 2023 edition of BRS. The 1-st year students will introduce their MA thesis research on the EPS joint online platform on May 24, 2023.

#2: MA thesis submission deadline

It is never early enough to think about writing your MA thesis! The deadline for the MA thesis submission for the academic year 2022/2023 was set to June 16, 2023. Good luck with the research and writing.

FREQUENT QUESTION / DO NOT FORGET

Do EPS students have a graduation ceremony?
YES! All EPS students who graduated during the summer of 2022 will be invited to the Carolinum of Charles University for the official termination of their studies. Wait for the invitation from the International Office of CU. The ceremony will take place in spring 2023.
