| SOCIAL AND CULTURAL EVENT SECTION #1: Women Artists 1300 -1900 Have you ever been curious about where all the women are in the art? Not as an object of art, but as an artist? The art field seemed to be dominated by men only. Visit the exhibition of the Prague National Gallery, which is a testimony to women’s creative power. The visitors will have a chance to see a comprehensive exhibition of female artists who were active in Central Europe, the Netherlands, and present-day Italy in the period 1300–1900. The theme of the exhibition underscores a key message: while gender influences artistic expression and has historically limited women’s opportunities for recognition and education, what truly matters is talent, skill, and the determination to succeed in a still male-dominated world. |

| READING TIP: The Birth of the Modern: World Society 1815-1830 (Author: Paul Johnson, 1991, UK) This is an extraordinary chronicle of the fifteen years, 1815-1830, that laid the foundations of modern society. It is a history of people, ideas, politics, manners, morals, economics, art, science and technology, diplomacy, business and commerce, literature, and revolution. From Wellington at Waterloo and Jackson at New Orleans to the surge of democratic power and reform, this tumultuous period saw the United States transform itself from an ex-colony into a formidable nation, Britain become the first industrial world power, Russia develop the fatal flaws that would engulf her in the twentieth century, and China and Japan set the stage for future development. Provocative, challenging, and listenable, this remarkable story is told through the lives and actions of its outstanding, curious, and ordinary people. FREQUENT QUESTION / DO NOT FORGET When do I receive Erasmus+ funding in my bank account? Once all the documents are ready, the Rectorate of Charles University will invite you to sign the Erasmus+ agreement (usually during summer). The signature must be done in person, either by you or a person you appoint with a power of attorney. |
