| ACADEMIC EVENT SECTION#1: World Conference on Qualitative ResearchThe 9th conference will bring together researchers from over 40 countries to exchange knowledge and experiences in qualitative research. The event will take place at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków from February 4 to February 6, 2025, and it will be one of the most important international scientific events, emphasizing the interdisciplinary nature of qualitative research. The conference provides an excellent opportunity to discuss the application of qualitative research in various areas such as education, health, social sciences, engineering, and technology. |
| #2: Europe and the Global Battle of the NarrativesLeiden University and Europa Institute of Leiden Law School are hosting an event on “Europe and Geopolitics of Narrative.” The concept of “narrative” within foreign policy thinking is increasingly significant in great powers and the European Union. The lectures will deal with dynamics that actively shape the “narratives.” The event that aims to highlight and critically investigate the growing importance of “narrative power” and the global “battle of the narratives” from different disciplinary and professional perspectives, including relation to Europe’s alleged “geopolitical awakening,” occurs on February 14, 2025, at LUC The Hague: room 2.21 (Auditorium). |

| SOCIAL AND CULTURAL EVENT SECTION#1: Just Peace Festival Info SessionThe new Just Peace Festival platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action on the pressing global challenges of peace and justice looks for partners and contributors to help shape a festival and participate in developing the platform. The programme will blend cultural, academic, social, and entrepreneurial events, all focused on how we can re-think peace and justice in the current world. Any form of participation will be welcome. | #2: Museum of PharmacyExplore the Kraków Museum of Pharmacy and see the pharmacy furnishings of differents styles, pharmaceutical vessels, utensils and ingredients. Prized collections of Krakow Museum of Pharmacy are on display throughout all premises of historical, 14th century building located at Floriańska 25 street, taking up all Gothic cellars, then spread out through the rooms on all three floors, and ending up right at the attic. |

| CALL#1: UACES 55th Annual Conference 2025The 2025 UACES Annual Conference in Liverpool and online from August 31 to September 3, 2025, will gather scholars, researchers, and practitioners to exchange ideas in the field of European Studies. The conference will focus on Themes of Resilience and Transformation and will be focused on a broad spectrum of themes reflecting Europe’s resilience in the face of a rapidly changing world. | #2: 12th European Workshops in International StudiesThe European International Association (EISA) organises a series of International Studies Workshops titled “Hybrid, liminal, ambiguous? International politics in-between”. The workshops will take place July 2 – 4, 2025, at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Paper abstracts focused on one of the workshop topics can be submitted until February 11, 2025. The abstracts must be submitted electronically via the online submission system. |
| #3: Between Giants Summer SchoolThe international summer school Between Giants, organised by the University of Warsaw, will take place from September 8–13, 2025, in Poland (Warsaw, Białystok). It is open to MA and PhD students in the humanities and social sciences. Participants will explore historical, cultural, and political topics related to Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Participation is free of charge; travel, accommodation, and meals are covered by the organisers. Applications, including an abstract and CV, must be submitted by March 1, 2025. More info here. |

These concepts are the theme of the 2025 edition of the Spring School that will occur from March 17 to 20, 2025. | HINDSIGHT#1: Barcelona Research SeminarThe 2025 edition of the Barcelona Research Seminar occurred on January 22-23, 2025. The event gathered 2nd-year students of the EPS programme and gave them an excellent opportunity to focus on their research. Besides the academic value, the event offered time for social activities. |

| READING TIP: The Handmaid´s Tale, 1985 (author: Margaret Atwood, Canada)The narrative of the anti-utopian novel takes place in an unspecified near future in the location of the former USA, which is replaced by a totalitarian state. The narrator is a servant in a house of mighty men of the regime and his wife. The handmaid Offred describes a society lacking freedoms, where she is reduced to a slave. The atmosphere of the totalitarian state, together with the mindset of a person deprived of all the freedoms, constitute the book’s core. FREQUENT QUESTION / DO NOT FORGETWhat is the date and venue of the graduation ceremony?The graduation ceremony for EPS graduates who finished EPS studies during summer (June-September) 2024 will occur on March 19, 2025, in the Great Hall of Charles University. If you graduate later, the later date of the ceremony will be allocated and communicated to you. The event hours will be confirmed approximately one month before the graduation ceremony by the International Office of CU (degreeprograms@fsv.cuni.cz). The number of attendees per graduate is not limited. |
