  • 17. 4. 2024

In cooperation with Europaeum, we invite students to participate in unique student event and academic experience. Oxford Spring School will gather master and doctoral researchers from the area of humanities and social sciences. The topic of the 2024 Oxford Spring School is

Making Sense of Turbulent Times.

The twenty-first century can be considered a period of turbulence defined by many critical moments such as 9/11 events, Iraq, Afghanistan, the global financial crisis, various epidemics, climate emergency, Lybia, Syria, Ukraine, and Gaza. The list of the moments defining the twenty-first century is long. Without a doubt, we can state that the twenty-first century can be defined as a turbulent one. If turbulence is a natural state of things, then it brings not only a threat to society but also an opportunity. How this opportunity can be incorporated into society is a crucial question.

If you are a 2nd-year student and you are interested in joining lively working groups and joining the discussion, do not hesitate to apply! Applicants are invited to present a 15-minute paper based on their research. Please send paper proposals addressing the theme of turbulence, especially related to the following topics:

  • War and conflict
  • News, information and media
  • Politics and elections
  • Demographics and migration
  • Health humanities

Please note that the call for applications is open only for 2nd-year students applying for the research presentation. 2nd-year students might be accepted as a presenter or a discussant based on the quality and/or relevance of the application to the call. In case there are not enough successful applications from 2nd-year students, a second call for 1st-year students to participate as discussants will be launched.
