Tomáš Weiss

Dr. Tomáš Weiss the EPS Academic and Research Deputy Director. Tomáš is Jean Monnet Chair in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies and Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of International Studies. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. He has published extensively on the new security environment, the blurring border between internal and external security, and the role of small states in EU politics. His research was published in leading journals, such as Cooperation and Conflict, European Security, Armed Forces and Society, and by prominent publishing houses, such as Routledge and Springer. Tomáš has led several national research projects funded by the Czech Science Foundation and the Technological Agency of the Czech Republic, and managed Charles University’s involvement in FP7 projects Mercury and Transworld. Since 2018, he has been an associate researcher at the European Centre of the Department of Politics and International Studies, University of Cambridge where he was a visiting researcher in 2018-2019.
